Introduction to Electrochemistry

電化學導論

 

This course provides basic concepts of electrochemical and electrochemical analysis to students. It covers the thermodynamics and kinetics of electrode reactions. A number of techniques for electrochemical analysis and its application in industry are also covered. In addition, some advanced materials for electrochemical applications are also introduced in this class.

 

The course content includes:

Polymeric Materials for Biomedical Applications

生醫高分子材料

 

This course covers the recent development of using polymeric materials for biomedical applications, including conjugated polymers, stimuli-responsive polymers, biopolymers, and biodegradable polymers. The synthesis methods and bioconjugation techniques will also be emphasized in this course.  

 

The following topics will be thoroughly discussed:

1. Overview of polymers, their properties and general characterization techniques.

2. Surface-initiated atom transfer radical polymerization and bioconjugation techniques for surface modification.

3. Polyethylene glycol for antifouling applications.

4. Biopolymers: polysaccharide-based materials and their hydrogels for drug delivery.

5. Conjugated polymers: fluorescent conjugated polymers for bioimaging and conducting polymers for biosensing/ bioelectronics.

6. Ion conductive polymers for artificial muscle.

7. Stimuli-responsive polymers: pH responsive and thermal responsive polymers for controlled-release substrates.
